On June 3, 2019, Don was sworn in before the United States Supreme Court, and formally became a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar by taking the oath of office administered to him by Chief Justice John Roberts. The ceremony was a special experience for Don, who was both humbled to be admitted as a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar and proud to hear the name of his late father, Roy D. Baker, spoken aloud in the Chamber of the United States Supreme Court. Don was also grateful for the blessing of sharing this special day with his wife, Victoria, as together they reflected upon the past forty years of Don’s legal career of service to the citizens of the State of West Virginia. Following the swearing in ceremony, Don and Victoria joined their colleagues from the American Bar Association for a luncheon in the Court’s private dining room where they were joined by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for a group photograph and an informal discussion about her life and career as an attorney, and as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
