Roy “Don” Baker, Jr., was born in Weirton, West Virginia, on June 12, 1954. He attained his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Wheeling Jesuit University in 1976. While a student at Wheeling Jesuit University, Don was a Bishop Hodges Scholar, a member of the Jesuit Honor Society, and served as Senior Class President.
Don graduated from West Virginia University College of Law in 1979, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, National Moot Court Team and served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board during his Third Year (1978-1979.)
Don was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia in May of 1979, and was subsequently admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia; The United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia; The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals; and, the Supreme Court of the United States.
Having owned his own law practice since 1984, Don currently enjoys a practice that is focused upon personal injury and business litigation, with an even balance between representing individuals and businesses as Plaintiffs and Defendants. Don’s professional focus is upon protecting and pursuing the rights of his clients in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice, insurance defense, as well as a forty-year history in the defense of asbestos, formaldehyde, and benzine claims. Don has served as National Coordinating Counsel for manufacturers in both asbestos and formaldehyde litigation, as well as local counsel for several defendants in the asbestos litigation pending in the State of West Virginia.
Although his principles remain rooted in the lessons that he learned while working in the steel mills of his hometown of Weirton, WV, Don has spent the past 45 years practicing law throughout the entire State of West Virginia. Don currently resides in Huntington, WV, where he and his wife, Victoria, have raised three sons and now have the blessing of four beautiful grandchildren. Don continues to pursue his life-long passion of writing and recording contemporary liturgical music and participating in Music Ministry programs, dating back nearly fifty years.
